Hopi Collection - Set of 3
Hopi Collection - Set of 3
Ha'u!
That's "Hello" in the Hopi language and it's pronounced similar to "hah-uh".
This printable coloring collection features a unique people group of North America: the Hopi Native American People.
For centuries the Hopi people have lived in the area now called Arizona. The word Hopi means "People of Peace" or Civilized People". Many Hopi people still live in Arizona and practice some of the ancient traditions like basket weaving, making pottery and jewelry, and performing dances at traditional ceremonies.
This collection features two beautiful Hopi women in traditional clothing. One is of a woman in a traditional dress, and wearing her hair in two twisted pigtails. Traditionally, this hairstyle indicates that she is a married woman. The portrait coloring page features a young woman in a hairstyle known as "squash blossom whorls" or "butterfly whorls". It's one of the most unique hairstyles worn by Native Americans and it indicates that she is unmarried. The 3rd page is a fact sheet about the Hopi nation with some special items to color.
I hope that you enjoy learning about the beautiful Hopi people as you color these pages! There are no rules saying that you have to color these pages "realistically". You can be creative and use whatever colors and mediums you enjoy! If you would like to color these to be culturally realistic, try searching for photos on Google Images, Pinterest or Instagram. Words that will help you find related images would be: Hopi, Squash Blossom Whorls, and Hopi house.
Happy coloring!
